In a significant law enforcement operation in Chattogram’s Boalkhali upazila, joint security forces raided the residence of a local Awami League leader and arrested two brothers in possession of firearms and weapon-making equipment. The duo was subsequently handed over to the police for further legal action. The raid occurred late on Friday night in the Bengura area of the upazila.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Saiful Islam, 56, and Salahuddin Rumi, 51, both sons of the late Abul Bashar. Their elder brother, Belal Hossain, is the former chairman of Sarowatali Union and the current president of the union’s Awami League unit. The operation was conducted at his residence.

A thorough search of the premises led to the recovery of a substantial cache of weapons and equipment.
