Winners of Notun Kuri Awarded for Their Talent

On Saturday, November 15, 2025, the winners of the Notun Kuri 2025 competition were honoured at a special award ceremony held at the Bangladesh Television (BTV) Auditorium in Rampura, Dhaka. The chief guest of the event was the Advisor to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Md. Mahfuz Alam.

In his speech, Mahfuz Alam congratulated the winners and expressed confidence that these young artists, through their hard work, would achieve recognition in Bangladesh’s cultural sphere. He encouraged the winners to continue fostering their cultural practices, while also developing their talents in other fields.

He highlighted the significant role of parents and teachers in nurturing children’s talents. “The success we see in the Notun Kuri competition is a result of the continuous support and guidance provided by parents and teachers,” he said, offering congratulations to them as well.

Further reflecting on the country’s past, Mahfuz Alam reminded the children of the July Mass Uprising and its impact on shaping the future of Bangladesh. He said, “Many of you may have witnessed the July Uprising, and some of you may know the martyrs personally. The dreams of those who sacrificed their lives for Bangladesh’s freedom are the very dreams we are trying to fulfil through this competition.”

Speaking about the long-awaited relaunch of the Notun Kuri competition after 20 years, he noted that it was revived in July 2025. After a long process, the competition was officially concluded with the award ceremony. He expressed his gratitude to the Director-General of BTV and all those involved in organising the event successfully.

Mahfuz Alam concluded with optimism, saying that the Notun Kuri competition has sparked hope for the continuity of Bangladesh’s rich cultural heritage, and he is confident that future governments will maintain the tradition of this competition.

In her special address, the Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Mahbuba Farzana, stated that the young winners of Notun Kuri will lead the country’s arts and literature scene. She expressed hope that these young talents will take Bangladesh’s cultural scene to new heights.

The Director-General of BTV, Md. Mahbubul Alam, who chaired the event, praised the swift organisation of the competition, which was completed in just one and a half months, thanks to the direct guidance and efforts of the Information and Broadcasting Advisor. He also shared BTV’s plans for the winners, announcing that the top ten artists from each category would be directly added to BTV’s artist roster. Additionally, these top ten artists will participate in BTV’s Shishu Prohor (Children’s Hour) programme, which will air every Friday.
