Woman Allegedly Gang-Raped with Promise of Going Abroad, One Arrested

In Savar, a young woman has been allegedly gang-raped under the pretext of being taken abroad. Following the incident, police have arrested a youth named Delwar Hossain Delu (35). Another accused, Antar, remains absconding.

Inspector Sirajul Islam, in charge of the Tanary Police Outpost of Savar Model Police Station, confirmed the matter late Saturday night (November 1) at 12:30 am.

According to the police, on Friday evening (October 31) in the Rajaghat area of Savar, the 22-year-old woman was gang-raped at her home. Delwar and Antar went to her house promising to take her abroad. After committing the crime, they fled the scene. The woman filed a written complaint at Savar Model Police Station, and the case was registered the same night.

The arrested Delwar Hossain Delu is the son of the late Noor Mohammad from South Rajasun area of Savar. The detailed identity of the absconding Antar is not yet known.

Inspector Sirajul Islam stated that Delwar was arrested on Saturday from the Rajfulbaria area in connection with the gang-rape case.

The OC of Savar Model Police Station said, “A case has been registered regarding the gang-rape at the woman’s home. A seven-day remand will be sought for the arrested Delu. Operations to apprehend the other absconding accused are ongoing.”
