A tragic road accident claimed the life of an unidentified woman in the Shahjadpur area of Gulshan, Dhaka, early on Monday. The deceased, estimated to be around 50 years old, was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Shahjadpur Main Road. Her identity remains unknown.

According to police and eyewitness reports, the incident occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. when an unidentified vehicle hit the woman and fled the scene immediately. The impact was fatal, and she died instantly.

Sub-Inspector Anindya Talukdar of the Gulshan Police Station confirmed the incident, stating that officers promptly arrived at the scene after receiving emergency calls and recovered the body. However, the vehicle involved could not be immediately identified, and investigations are ongoing.

The deceased was wearing a red printed sari at the time of the accident. Officers from the CID’s Crimescene Unit are attempting to identify her through fingerprint analysis, but no match has yet been found. Police have emphasised the need for public assistance, urging anyone with information about the victim or the vehicle involved to come forward.

The body has been taken to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination. Authorities have confirmed that forensic experts will carry out a thorough investigation to establish the exact circumstances of the accident.
