Woman Murdered in Front of Child; Celebration by Relative Before the Killing

In Kalkini, Madaripur, a shocking murder took place late at night, where Pakhi Begum, a housewife, was brutally stabbed to death in front of her four-year-old child. Police have arrested one suspect in connection with the incident.

According to the family, Pakhi Begum had gone to bed after dinner with her child. In the dead of night, the assailants threw bricks onto the roof of her house. When she opened the door, they attacked her with knives in front of her child. The child’s screams alerted local residents, who then informed the police.

The victim’s mother-in-law, Najma Begum, claimed: “Pakhi Begum was murdered over a land dispute. On the night of the killing, Poly Begum was at her house beating drums and organising dancing and singing to ensure that no one would notice the murder taking place.”

OC Sohel Rana of Kalkini Police Station stated: “Upon receiving the news, we recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem at Madaripur Sadar Hospital this morning. No formal case has been filed yet regarding the incident.”
