Writ Filed Challenging Candidacy of DAKSU GS Candidate Forhad

A writ petition has been filed with the High Court challenging the candidacy of SM Forhad, the General Secretary (GS) candidate from Islami Chhatra Shibir, in the upcoming Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election.

The petition was submitted on Sunday, 31 August, before the bench of Justice SK Tahsin Ali and Justice Habibul Gani.

The writ was filed by BM Fahmida Alam, Liberation War and Mass Movement Affairs Secretary of the panel “Aparajeyo 71, Adommo 24”. However, it remains unclear when the High Court will schedule a hearing on the petition.

This year’s DUCSU election has drawn significant attention as candidates from different ideological backgrounds are contesting.

The DUCSU election is scheduled to take place on 9 September, marking a crucial event for student politics at Dhaka University.

This legal move against Forhad’s candidacy has added a new dimension of controversy to the already politically charged student election.
