Young Man Commits Suicide on Facebook Live in Fatikchhari

Fatikchhari, Chattogram – A tragic incident unfolded in Fatikchhari Upazila on Thursday afternoon (19 March), when 22-year-old Muhammad Ali Mortuza reportedly took his own life during a Facebook Live broadcast. The young man, a resident of Badolkar Bazar in Nanupara Union, was the son of Ali Akbar.

According to police and local sources, Mortuza went live on his personal Facebook account from inside his home in the afternoon. During the live session, he hanged himself using a rope. The distressing footage quickly spread across social media, shocking the local community and prompting authorities to respond immediately.

Police arrived at the scene after receiving reports from residents. Mortuza’s body was found hanging in his room, and it was subsequently recovered for further investigation.

Sub-Inspector Mazharul Islam of Fatikchhari Police Station confirmed the incident, stating, “The young man committed suicide while streaming live on Facebook. Following recovery of the body, all legal procedures have been initiated.”

Authorities have not yet determined the motive behind Mortuza’s decision. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and further legal measures are underway as the investigation continues.
