Dhaka, 2 February 2026 — Police recovered the body of a young man in Dhaka’s Tejgaon Industrial Area on Monday, three days after he went missing. The victim, identified as Md. Bijoy, 17, had been employed as a cleaner at Shalim Industries.
Bijoy hailed from Muktagachha, Mymensingh, but was currently residing with his family in the Mohakhali Sat Tala slum. According to police, he was last seen on Thursday, 29 January 2026, prompting his family to file a general diary at Banani Police Station reporting his disappearance.
The body was eventually discovered late Sunday night, 1 February 2026, inside a generator room located behind the road-side building of Shalim Industries, within the jurisdiction of Tejgaon Industrial Police Station. Officers reported multiple injuries to Bijoy’s head and other parts of his body, suggesting a violent attack. Following legal procedures, the body was sent to Sohrawardy Medical College mortuary for post-mortem examination.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Bijoy may have been murdered and subsequently concealed in the generator room.
The police investigation has also highlighted a potential suspect. Inspector (Investigation) Md. Badal Gomasta of Tejgaon Industrial Police confirmed that the victim’s family has accused Raju, a peon working at the same factory, of committing the murder. A murder case has been registered, and authorities are actively attempting to apprehend Raju.
