The body of an 18-year-old young man, Omar Faruk, was recovered by police from a lake behind Sudhasadan in Dhanmondi, Dhaka.

Local residents spotted the body floating in the lake on Sunday, 5 October, at around 7:30 AM and immediately informed the authorities. The Dhanmondi Police Station retrieved the body at approximately 8:45 AM and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

According to police sources, the deceased, Omar Faruk, was the son of Abdul Quddus Molla, a resident of the Khurshid Bazar/Tannery Mor area in Hazaribagh.

OC Kayshinu Marma, Officer-in-Charge of Dhanmondi Police Station, stated: “The body has been recovered and sent to the Dhaka Medical College morgue. Whether this was a case of homicide or suicide will only be determined after the autopsy report is released.”

Quoting the family, the OC further added: “Omar Faruk went out of the house on Friday in a fit of anger and did not return. He has been missing since then. His father is involved in the fish business, and Omar sometimes assisted him. It is reported that an argument occurred because Omar did not attend the shop properly.”
