Young Woman Missing in Satkhira for Five Days

Satkhira, Bangladesh – The search continues for a 19-year-old woman, Samiya Akter, who has been missing for five days from the Padmashakhra area in Bhomra Union, Satkhira Sadar Upazila. Despite extensive efforts by her family and local community, no trace of her has been found.

The missing woman is the daughter of Md. Abdul Salam. According to family sources, Samiya left her home around 12:00 PM on 12 March without informing any family member. When she failed to return for an extended period, her relatives began searching and inquiring among neighbours and acquaintances, but these efforts yielded no results.

Samiya’s brother, Md. Ayanirul Islam, reported the matter to Satkhira Sadar Police Station, filing a General Diary (GD) in an attempt to mobilise official assistance. He expressed his family’s deep concern, stating:

“We do not know where our sister is or what condition she may be in. We appeal to the authorities for urgent assistance in locating her.”

The family has urged anyone who may have information about Samiya’s whereabouts to contact the nearest police station or reach out directly to her family. The situation has left them in extreme distress, with daily routines heavily disrupted by anxiety and worry.

Local authorities have reportedly initiated preliminary checks in surrounding areas, including Padmashakhra and nearby markets, transport hubs, and known acquaintances, but have not yet uncovered any clues. Neighbours have joined in the search, highlighting the close-knit nature of the community and the collective concern over her disappearance.

The ongoing case reflects broader concerns over the safety and well-being of young women in the region, with officials reiterating the importance of community vigilance and timely reporting in missing-person cases.
