Zelensky’s Inner Circle Shaken by Corruption Investigation

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Friday that his chief of staff’s top aide, Andriy Yermak, has resigned following a police raid at his residence, conducted as part of an extensive corruption investigation.

In a video address, Zelensky stated, “The Office of the President will be restructured. Chief of Staff Andriy Yermak has submitted his resignation.” He added that consultations on a possible replacement will take place on Saturday.

Earlier, two of Ukraine’s anti-corruption agencies, including the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU), carried out the search at Yermak’s apartment under a court-authorised warrant. While no formal charges have been brought against either the President or Yermak, the incident has sparked significant public debate and political pressure.

Reports from the BBC indicate that a recent major corruption scandal involving individuals close to Zelensky has caused widespread national concern.
