One of the most talked-about names on social media right now is Ripon Mia. By profession a carpenter, he gained overnight fame by creating entertaining content online. Ripon began his journey as a content creator on Facebook in 2016, steadily building a large following.
Recently, Ripon Mia has become the centre of controversy, with netizens engaging in widespread discussion and criticism. In response, television actress Rukaya Jahan Chomok has shared a lengthy post reflecting on him, sparking further debate.
The post, shared verbatim, reads:
"When self-interest is hurt, even parents can pull their own child down. Everyone is talking about how bad or good Ripon Mia is, but are we looking at the other side of the coin? His parents never once considered his dignity.
The glitz and glamour visible on social media or mobile screens may not reflect reality. Just because Ripon Mia appears to have a luxurious lifestyle in his sponsored content does not mean he is wealthy.
If his own parents cannot feel happy for the modest progress of their child, how can we expect our society, our neighbours, or anyone around us to rejoice in his success or achievements?
And those so-called great journalists, who pry into people's personal lives—nose, ears, throat, the whole body—and drag them down for a few pennies, how do you perceive them?
Another point: Ripon Mia himself repeatedly claims in his videos that he is poor. Therefore, the headline ‘Not Introducing Parents Because He’s Poor’ could have been avoided. The accusations could have been made more creatively.
Nature constantly shows us how fierce, insecure, jealous, greedy, lonely, or helpless we can be. At the end of the day, all the blame falls on Ripon Mia."
