Jamaat Pledges Special Loans for Women Entrepreneurs if Elected

Advocate Dr. Helal Uddin, Central Working Committee member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Deputy Amir of Dhaka Metropolitan South, as well as the party’s parliamentary candidate for Dhaka-8, has announced that if Jamaat comes to power, special loans will be provided to women entrepreneurs to make them self-reliant.

He made the remarks on Saturday (20 September) while addressing a public consultation meeting organised by Dhaka Metropolitan South Jamaat, themed “Development Perspectives for All Classes and Professions of Dhaka-8 Constituency”.

Key Points from Dr. Helal Uddin’s Speech

  • Women’s Empowerment:“To advance the country, women’s participation must be ensured. The safety of women and children must be guaranteed.”
  • Employment and Crime:
He highlighted that unemployment leads to increased criminal tendencies, adding that planned measures are necessary to reduce joblessness.
  • Critique of Past Governments:
Dr. Helal Uddin accused previous administrations of focusing on personal gains rather than national development, indulging in corruption, nepotism, and money laundering abroad. He stated that even British-Pakistan-era rulers were surpassed by the ruling elites of independent Bangladesh.
  • Jamaat’s Historical Role:
He emphasised that Jamaat has consistently resisted exploitation since its inception. Despite facing death penalties, the party has never bowed to fascist forces and remains committed to defending the sovereignty and independence of the nation.

Development Plans for Dhaka-8

  • Tourism Initiatives:
Dr. Helal Uddin announced plans to transform Shahbagh-Ramna and Suhrawardy Udyan into tourism hubs, stating that Dhaka-8 could become a model constituency for the new Bangladesh.
  • Managing Street Vendors:
He assured that evicting street vendors will not leave them unemployed. Instead, vendors will be rehabilitated in designated areas, reducing traffic congestion while simultaneously addressing unemployment.
  • Commitment to a Transparent Governance: “From a sidewalk shopkeeper to a supermarket owner, no one will be forced to pay bribes or donations. Jamaat is committed to a corruption-free, terrorism-free, extortion-free, and equitable welfare state.”
  • Call to Support Jamaat:
He urged the constituents of Dhaka-8 to support and cooperate with Jamaat in the upcoming elections.
