Nurul Haq Nur, President of Gana Adhikar Parishad, has travelled to Singapore for advanced medical treatment. He departed Dhaka on Monday morning at 8:25 am aboard a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight.
Accompanying him on the trip is Dr Sajjad Hossain Russel, Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic and Spine Surgery at Bangladesh Medical University.
According to party sources, Nur will undergo treatment at the renowned Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore. His medical expenses will be covered by the Government of Bangladesh.
Nur sustained serious injuries on 29 August during a clash with law enforcement in front of his party office at Bijoynagar, Dhaka. Several other leaders and activists were also injured in the incident.
Party workers rushed him from the scene to hospital after he collapsed. Multiple videos circulated on social media showed Nur bleeding heavily from his face down to his chest. Following the assault, he lost consciousness.
He regained consciousness the following morning and subsequently remained under hospital care for over two weeks.
