Leader of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Reported Missing, Claims Hasnat

K. M. Mamunur Rashid, former Joint Convener of the Uttara Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, has reportedly been missing for over 48 hours, according to Hasnat Abdullah, Chief Organiser of the National Citizens Party (NCP) for the southern region. The claim was made in a post on Hasnat’s verified Facebook page on Thursday morning.

Hasnat Abdullah stated: “For more than 48 hours, K. M. Mamunur Rashid, former Joint Convener of the Uttara Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, has been missing from the Uttara area of Dhaka. This situation is both extremely concerning and frightening.”

He further criticised the authorities: “As a citizen, it is alarming that the state has failed to ensure even minimal security. The government and law enforcement agencies’ lack of prompt and proper investigation into this incident is evident and deeply troubling.”

Hasnat also expressed concern over the media’s response: “At the same time, the silence of the media in such a critical situation is deeply worrisome. This silence risks reviving an atmosphere of fear and oppression in politics that we have long tried to move beyond.”
