Muslim States Join European Powers in Backing Trump’s Gaza Plan

Key Muslim-majority nations on Monday declared support for a plan by US President Donald Trump to end the war in Gaza, even as some Palestinians condemned the proposal as a “farce.”

Washington’s European allies echoed the call, urging Hamas to accept the deal. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu endorsed the plan but warned Hamas of further devastation if it failed to comply.

Eight Arab and Muslim-majority countries issued a joint declaration welcoming Trump’s initiative:

The statement read: “We welcome the role of the American president and his sincere efforts aimed at ending the war in Gaza. We affirm our readiness to engage positively and constructively with the United States and the parties toward finalising the agreement and ensuring its implementation.”

Palestinian Reactions

The Palestinian Authority (PA), often marginalised by Netanyahu, welcomed Trump’s “sincere and determined efforts.”
Hamas has yet to issue a detailed response, saying it has not formally received the plan.
Islamic Jihad rejected the initiative outright, calling it: “A recipe for continued aggression against the Palestinian people… Israel is attempting – via the United States – to impose what it could not achieve through war.”
Gaza residents expressed scepticism. Abu Mazen Nassar, 52, remarked: “We as a people will not accept this farce.”

European leaders lined up to endorse Trump’s proposal:

The plan envisions the creation of a transitional governing body in Gaza led by Trump in cooperation with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Blair hailed the initiative: “President Trump has put down a bold and intelligent plan which, if agreed, can end the war, bring immediate relief to Gaza, ensure Israel’s absolute and enduring security, and secure the release of all hostages.”
