Shariful Sets a Remarkable Example for His Local Community

It is often said that the greater a person becomes, the more humble they remain. Shariful Islam exemplifies this principle perfectly. Always ready to support junior cricketers or team support staff in times of need, Shariful also goes the extra mile for the people of his hometown, Panchagarh. His desire to give back to his local community has taken a remarkable turn, as he has now announced a significant initiative.

Following an outstanding performance in the second T20 against Afghanistan, where he was named Player of the Match, Shariful revealed that he will donate the entire prize money to support underprivileged people in his hometown. Remarkably, he has pledged that every time he earns a Player of the Match award, he will dedicate the prize money to the same cause in the future.

On 4 October, Shariful shared a heartfelt message on social media:

“Alhamdulillah, with one match remaining, we have secured the series victory. Congratulations to the team for the fantastic effort. From today, I am starting a small initiative: every time I receive the Player of the Match award in international or domestic matches, I will donate the prize money to assist the underprivileged people of my hometown, Insha’Allah. Please pray that Allah grants me the ability to continue this work regularly.”

Shariful’s heroics in the second T20 were pivotal to Bangladesh’s thrilling victory. With the ball, he bowled 4 overs for just 13 runs, taking 1 crucial wicket. Later, with the bat, he scored an unbeaten 11 runs off 6 balls, guiding the team to a 2-wicket win with just five balls to spare.

Thanks to his all-round performance, Shariful was awarded Player of the Match, and alongside this individual accolade, the Bangladesh team secured the series victory.
