Case Filed Against 19 Individuals in Journalist Murder

A case has been filed against 19 people in connection with the murder of journalist S.M. Hayat Uddin in Bagerhat.

On Sunday, 5 October, the victim’s mother, Hasina Begum, lodged the case at Bagerhat Sadar Police Station.

Details of the Case

According to the FIR, on Friday evening in Harikhali area, Israil Molla and his associates attacked Hayat Uddin.

• He was stabbed with sharp weapons and beaten with a hammer, resulting in severe injuries.
• Local residents rescued him and took him to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where he was declared dead by doctors.

Post-Incident Procedures

• Saturday afternoon: After the autopsy, the body was handed over to the family.
• Funeral: A janaza (funeral prayer) was held at the Harikhali Government Primary School field, followed by burial near his residence.

Police Statement

Md. Mahmud-ul-Hasan, Officer-in-Charge (Acting) of Bagerhat Sadar Police Station, said: “A case has been filed over the murder. Operations are ongoing to apprehend the main accused, Israil Molla, and other involved individuals.”
