Faruk Ahmed on Becoming BCB Vice-President

Faruk Ahmed, who recently participated in the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) elections as a councillor for the Rangers Cricket Academy, has been appointed Vice-President of the BCB following his election as a director with 42 votes. At a press conference, Faruk shared his reflections on this new role.

When asked why he returned to the BCB despite past negative experiences, Faruk explained that he initially did not wish to return. He stated: “Now, our focus is on moving forward; I do not want to look back. As I keep saying, we finally have a full board. Our only goal should be to advance cricket in Bangladesh.”

Faruk acknowledged that life brings challenges and difficult times but emphasised that the board’s sole focus must be progress: “Many incidents and hard times happen in life. But my point is now we have one goal — moving forward. The new president was in office for three to four months, and under his leadership, we now have a full board. I hope this board remains in place for a long time so that we can implement our plans effectively.”

Echoing the sentiment of former national captains, Faruk stressed that the board members share a common vision for cricket in Bangladesh: “The president has said it — our collective aim is the same. Everyone here wants Bangladeshi cricket to progress. We who are part of this board also want the same. The goal is one, though there are challenges along the way. We must tackle those challenges to achieve our objectives.”
