A massive fire has broken out at the Al Hamid Textile factory located in the Chattogram Export Processing Zone (CEPZ). The multi-storey building reportedly houses over 500 workers.
According to the Fire Service, the blaze began around 2:00 PM on Thursday, 16 October.
Md. Jasim Uddin, Deputy Director of Chattogram Fire Service, confirmed that 16 units from six fire stations have been deployed to bring the fire under control. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage remain unknown at this stage. Rescue operations are ongoing.
