Israel Confirms Return of Another Hostage Remains from Gaza

Tel Aviv, Tuesday — Israel announced on Tuesday that the remains of a hostage returned by Hamas on Monday had been officially identified as those of Sergeant Major Tal Chaimi, a non-commissioned officer killed during the Hamas attack on 7 October 2023.

The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office stated:

“Following the completion of the identification process, representatives of the army informed the family of Sergeant Major Tal Chaimi, of blessed memory, that their loved one had been returned to Israel and his identification had been completed.”

Chaimi, 41, served as the commander of the Nir Yitzhak kibbutz defence militia. He was killed on the first day of the war, and his body had been taken to Gaza, where it remained until its recent return.
