Milon Loses Hands and Legs in Air Machine Explosion

In Rajbari, an air machine (vulcanizer) explosion left a man, Md. Milon (50), with his hands and legs severely mutilated. He has been admitted to the hospital in critical condition.

The incident occurred around 12:00 PM on Saturday, October 25, in the West Bhabanipur area of Rajbari town, in front of Nuru Mia’s brick kiln on the Rajbari-Kushtia highway.

The injured Milon is the son of Maula, a driver from Dhunchi village in Rajbari town.

Eyewitness Md. Mamun Sardar said, A truck came and stopped in front of Milon’s vulcanizer shop. After a while, the three of us were sitting and talking. Suddenly, there was a loud bang, smoke came out, and the tin roof of the shop flew off. Later, locals rushed to the scene and saw Milon lying in a pool of blood. The flesh of both his legs and hands was torn apart. We immediately rescued him and sent him to Rajbari Sadar Hospital.

Dr. Md. Nurul Islam Azam, Medical Officer of the Emergency Department at Rajbari Sadar Hospital, said, The air machine (vulcanizer) explosion caused Milon to lose the flesh of both his legs and hands. Due to excessive bleeding, he needs a blood transfusion. After initial treatment, he will be referred to Dhaka for further care.
