Mohammad Aminul Hakim, president of the Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB), has stated that the implementation of the new telecom policy will increase broadband internet costs for consumers by 20 percent.
He shared this information on Monday (3 November).
According to the ISPAB president, with the new policy, consumer-level costs will rise by 20 percent. For example, a 500-taka connection will see a 100-taka increase, while a 1,000-taka connection will go up by 200 taka.
Aminul Hakim also said that if the telecom policy is not revised, Bangladesh could face a digital shutdown. He called on political parties to intervene on the policy issue before the upcoming election.
