After being hospitalized with Dengue fever, it seemed Mahmudullah Riyad had come face-to-face with death. The country is currently facing a Dengue epidemic, and death news is heard almost every day. Mahmudullah’s wife, Jannatul Kawsar Mishti, recounted the memory of that terrifying experience.
Mishti posted a photo of the Cardiothoracic High Dependency Unit (CHDU) on her personal social media profile. Along with the picture, she wrote about the harrowing time she went through last week.
Mahmudullah Riyad’s wife wrote in her status, “May Allah never let me stand in front of this door again. This was the hardest and most frightening time of my life (27/10/2025). When he told me to forgive him before entering this door, I pretended as if nothing had happened, and that nothing would happen, Insha’Allah. I kept myself very strong at that moment; now, thinking about it, I am surprised at how I was so strong.”
Jannatul Kawsar Mishti further added, “I firmly believed that my Allah was testing my patience, and I would pass this test, Insha’Allah. But all the while I was by his side, I was silently afraid, wondering how much longer his life span was—only Allah knows that. With constant prayers and remembrance (Zikir), that difficult time somehow passed, Alhamdulillah, Masha’Allah. Allah is Great, the Most Merciful. I am forever grateful for His mercy. There are moments in a person’s life that can never be forgotten. That difficult time still keeps recurring in my mind; perhaps it will take time for this trauma to subside.”
