The official schedule for the Jagannath University Central Students’ Union (JUCSU) election will be announced today, Wednesday. At the same time, the final code of conduct for the election will also be published.
The information was confirmed by Chief Election Commissioner Professor Dr. Mostofa Hasan on Tuesday around noon.
Professor Dr. Mostofa Hasan said that on Wednesday (November 5), the JUCSU election schedule will be announced, and the election date will also be disclosed. “We will finalize and publish the code of conduct on Wednesday. Work on the schedule and code of conduct is ongoing. I do not wish to say more at this moment. A full briefing will be held on Wednesday.”
Regarding the demands from various student organizations, he said, “We have heard their demands, but it is not appropriate to comment further at this stage.”
Earlier, on the night of October 30, the draft code of conduct for the JUCSU election was published, which includes mandatory doping tests for candidates. Last Sunday, the Election Commission held discussions with student leaders and journalists regarding the code of conduct and the election date.
On October 29, the university administration formed a five-member JUCSU Election Commission, appointing Professor Dr. Mostofa Hasan, Chairman of the Department of Social Work, as Chief Election Commissioner.
The assistant election commissioners are Professor Dr. Mo. Shahidul Islam, Chairman of the Department of Law; Professor Dr. Kaniz Fatema Kakli, Department of Physics; Professor Dr. Mo. Zulfikar Mahmud, Department of Computer Science and Engineering; and Associate Professor Dr. Mo. Anisur Rahman, Department of Islamic History and Culture.
