Nahid Islam Reveals Date for NCP Candidate Announcement

The National Citizen Party (NCP) is preparing to contest in the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election. The party’s convener, Nahid Islam, has announced that the list of candidates will be revealed by November 15. 

He also mentioned that NCP plans to field candidates in all 300 constituencies across the country. However, the party might refrain from nominating candidates in constituencies where BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia will contest.

Nahid Islam made these remarks on Wednesday (November 5) after visiting the family of Shaheed Gazi Salauddin, who was injured and later died during the July Uprising, in Narayanganj.

He said that BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia is expected to contest from three constituencies. NCP may not nominate candidates in those areas out of respect for her and others who played a role in the July Uprising.

“We are preparing to contest the election independently,” Nahid Islam added. “However, if any party expresses solidarity with our reform agenda and July Charter, we may consider forming an alliance.” He confirmed that the list of candidates will be announced by November 15.

Nahid Islam also criticized the interim government, saying that its failure to ensure proper medical treatment for the July fighters has led to an increasing number of casualties.
