In Sarail, Brahmanbaria, two people were killed in a collision between a truck and a battery-operated auto-rickshaw. The accident occurred today, Friday, at around 6:15 am in the Bodda Para area of the Upazila Sadar. The identities of the deceased were not immediately known.
According to police and eyewitnesses, a goods-laden truck was traveling from Jessore towards Habiganj. Usually, cargo vehicles move via the Dhaka-Sylhet highway. Due to traffic congestion, the truck was taking the Sarail-Nasirnagar-Lakhae road to reach its destination. Around 6:15 am, in the Bodda Para area of Sarail, the truck collided head-on with a battery-operated auto-rickshaw. The auto-rickshaw driver and one passenger were killed on the spot. Police recovered the two bodies and seized the truck at 8 am.
Murshidul Alam, Officer-in-Charge of Sarail Police Station, told the media that the bodies had been recovered and the truck driver was arrested. Legal proceedings regarding the incident are ongoing.
