Powerful Earthquakes Strike Japan Again, Tremors Felt Today

Japan has been hit by earthquakes for the second consecutive day. After a powerful 6.7 magnitude earthquake struck on Sunday, a 5.8 magnitude tremor hit on Monday, 10th November.

According to various media reports, today’s earthquake struck off the coast of the Iwate province in eastern Japan.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the quake occurred at 4:23 PM local time, with the epicentre located 11.2 kilometres beneath the Earth’s surface.

Japan’s Meteorological Agency confirmed that there is no tsunami warning in effect at this time. Additionally, no reports of damage have been received.

Just one day prior, the Iwate coastline was shaken by a 6.7 magnitude earthquake. Following the tremor on Sunday evening, small tsunami waves were observed along the northern Pacific coastline.

Japan’s Meteorological Agency also reported that aftershocks measuring between 5.3 and 6.3 in magnitude were felt following the main quake on Sunday.
