Russian Drone Strikes Kill One in Eastern Ukraine

Russian drone attacks on Monday resulted in one fatality in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk and left three others wounded in the Kharkiv region, local officials reported.

Kramatorsk, which had a pre-war population of around 150,000, is one of the last remaining civilian strongholds in the Donetsk region still under Ukrainian control.

The city council posted on Telegram that seven drones struck the city within 30 minutes on Monday evening. Preliminary reports indicated that a man in his 60s was killed in the attack.

“Civilian infrastructure and residential areas were targeted, with damage to an educational institution and residential buildings,” the council said.

This attack follows a similar incident last month, when a Russian drone killed two Ukrainian journalists and injured a colleague in Kramatorsk, according to their news outlet and regional officials.

In the Kharkiv region, a drone also struck a car in a village on Monday, wounding two men, aged 24 and 42, along with a 16-year-old boy, the Kharkiv regional prosecutor’s office said on Telegram.

Nearly four years after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, both sides remain heavily entrenched in the conflict. Moscow’s military claimed on Monday to have captured three more villages along the expansive front line.
