A 39-year-old man named Mamun Shikder was found shot dead in a mess house on Commissioner Goli in the Badda area of the capital. The police suspect that the murder may have been related to drug-related activities.
Mamun’s body was discovered early Wednesday morning, as confirmed by the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Badda Police Station, Habibur Rahman. Mamun, a driver by profession, was the son of Abdul Khalek Shikder from Algi village in Dumki Upazila, Patuakhali.
According to the police, Mamun was shot around 3 a.m. on Tuesday night in a house in Badda that was not his own. During the body recovery, the police found yaba (methamphetamine) in the house, leading them to believe that the murder could be linked to drug use or trafficking. The house was shared by two individuals, who fled after the incident. Police are trying to identify and arrest them.
OC Habibur Rahman stated that the body has been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy. More details will be revealed after the autopsy. The victim’s family is preparing to file a murder case, but the case has not been registered yet.
