Half-decomposed body of a woman recovered from a sack in Cox’s Bazar

Police have recovered the half-decomposed body of an unidentified woman from a sack in a canal beside the TacchakhalI Bridge in the Holdiapalong Union of Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar.

On Thursday, 14 November in the evening, the body was recovered and sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy, said Ukhiya Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ziaul Haque. As of filing this report, the victim’s identity had not been confirmed.

Quoting locals, OC Ziaul Haque said that in the evening, a strong stench was noticed coming from an abandoned sack in the canal next to the TacchakhalI Bridge. Locals informed the police, who later retrieved the sack from the spot. Upon opening it, a woman’s half-decomposed body was found. Due to severe decomposition, her face was disfigured, making identification impossible. It is suspected that miscreants killed the woman at least a week earlier and dumped the body there in the sack.

OC Ziaul Haque said the police have not yet confirmed who committed the murder or why. An investigation is underway to uncover the mystery behind the incident.
