Young man beaten to death after being lured from home in Fatikchhari, 2 arrested

In Fatikchhari, Chattogram, a young man was allegedly lured from his home at night and beaten to death with iron rods and sticks. The deceased has been identified as Abdullah Al Masud (32). He died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chattogram on Thursday night at 10:30 pm. Police have arrested two people in connection with the incident.

Abdullah Al Masud was the son of Md. Mozaher of Uttar Dhurung village, Ward 6, Fatikchhari municipality. He worked as an electrician. On Wednesday, he was found severely injured in front of his house and taken to the hospital by his family members.

Following Masud’s death, his younger brother Abdullah Al Rashed filed a murder case at Fatikchhari Police Station on Thursday night. The case names Md. Osman (27), Md. Afaz Uddin (31), and four to five unidentified individuals as suspects. Police have arrested Osman and Afaz.

Rashed alleged that Osman lured his brother from home. Then, on the roof of another house in the area, several people attacked his brother with iron rods, bamboo sticks, and bats, hitting his head, eyes, and limbs. Afterward, they left him severely injured in front of the house and fled.

Fatikchhari Police Officer-in-Charge Nur Ahmed told Prothom Alo, “The complainant is the younger brother of the deceased. We have already arrested two suspects. Efforts are ongoing to catch the others. The autopsy process is underway.”
