Limon Mia has confessed to killing Tawsif Rahman Sumon (16), the son of Rajshahi Metropolitan Sessions Judge Abdur Rahman. While undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, Limon Mia gave this chilling confession to reporters in the presence of police on Thursday night.
Earlier, seven days prior, Judge Abdur Rahman’s wife, Tasmin Nahar Lusi (44), had filed a General Diary (GD) at Jalalabad Police Station in Sylhet for security reasons. However, the investigation of that GD has not yet started.
While receiving treatment at Rajshahi Medical College (RAMEC) on Thursday night, Limon Mia described the murder to journalists in front of police. He said, “I have had a five-year extramarital relationship with Judge’s wife Tasmin Nahar Lusi. Lusi reported me to the police, imprisoned me, and harassed me in multiple ways. When she did not answer my calls, I came to her house in Rajshahi. After greeting her with peanuts and popcorn, I tried to take her to the tea stall. Her son came and attacked me, and I hit him in self-defense. I cannot explain what happened afterward. I seek justice from the government and the nation for this incident.”
It is known from the GD filed on 6 November that Lusi mentioned her acquaintance with Limon through the Quantum Foundation. As his family was financially weak, Limon often sought financial help from her. When she refused, he threatened her. On 3 November, Limon called her daughter’s Facebook Messenger and threatened to kill the family.
Jalalabad Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shah Mohammad Mobashwir said the GD has been sent to court, but permission for investigation has not yet been granted. Judge Abdur Rahman’s daughter studies at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, so Lusi filed the GD while staying in Sylhet after receiving threats.
Judge’s son Sumon, a ninth-grade student at Rajshahi Government Laboratory School, was killed on Thursday afternoon in the Spark View flat. Judge’s wife Tasmin Nahar Lusi was also injured. The attacker Limon Mia is currently under treatment in hospital.
RAMEC Hospital spokesperson Dr. Shankar Kumar Biswas stated that Sumon died due to severe injuries from a sharp weapon. Lusi suffered serious injuries to her right hand, thigh, and left arm. Limon Mia’s hand injury is not serious.
Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohammad Abu Sufian visited the crime scene. A driving license was found in the attacker’s pocket, indicating he may be a driver. He may have had prior disputes with the family. Police are investigating the incident.
