Lack of transparency in politics creates various doubts: Zillur Rahman

Political analyst and presenter Zillur Rahman has commented that a lack of transparency in politics creates various doubts. He stated that when politics lacks transparency, it is unclear who is doing what. Given recent events, people generally assume that the Awami League is behind these actions.

In some cases, this becomes more evident when supporters and leaders of the Awami League promote these actions on social media. He mentioned these points in a video on his YouTube channel.

Zillur Rahman said that when an Awami League office is set on fire, different thoughts arise. Some people say that the Awami League is fascist or authoritarian. However, the blame for setting fire to an office does not lie with ordinary citizens, any political group, or other forces. It is the responsibility of the government to maintain law and order, which is why the country has law enforcement agencies and legal systems.

He further explained that what seems abnormal in a normal situation may not seem abnormal in an unusual context. During uprisings or wartime, such events are generally not heavily discussed, although no law supports endangering the lives of innocent children and women. During the Liberation War, those involved in killing, arson, rape, and looting were not granted immunity.

Zillur also said that the angry public reaction in July-August 2024 was normal. But if that reaction continues now in the form of destroying homes, burning offices, or attacking individuals, it is unacceptable. This indicates that law and order in the country is not good, law enforcement is not functioning properly, or the rule of law is absent.

In response to the chief advisor’s remarks on the referendum, Jamaat stated that the government is no longer neutral. Zillur Rahman added that Jamaat speaks strongly at times, but they have the ability to change their stance.
