College student found hanging in Khilgaon

Police have recovered the hanging body of 18-year-old college student Md. Sifat from a house in the Jhilpar area of Khilgaon Chourasta, Dhaka.

The incident occurred on Friday (14 November) at 9:30 pm.

According to the deceased’s cousin Osman, Sifat was a second-year higher secondary student at a local college. On the day of the incident, his mother scolded him for excessive mobile phone use at home. Upset with his mother, Sifat went to his room, tied a scarf around his neck, and hanged himself from the ceiling fan. Family members quickly took him to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Md. Faruk, officer-in-charge of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital Police Camp, stated that the body has been kept in the hospital’s emergency morgue. The relevant police station has been informed about the incident.
