Bus Set on Fire in Hazaribagh, Dhaka

A bus was set on fire by miscreants in the Hazaribagh area of Dhaka, specifically on the Berribandh Road. The blaze destroyed all the seats inside the bus, though fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported, according to police.

The incident occurred just past midnight on Saturday, around 12:00 am. Police reported that the bus had been stationary in front of the Hazaribagh Government School and College when the perpetrators set it alight and fled the scene. Upon receiving the alert, two units from the Fire Service arrived and managed to extinguish the flames.

The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Hazaribagh Police Station, Saiful Islam, told the media that an investigation was underway to determine who was behind the fire. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the area and utilising other technological means to assist in their inquiry.

Meanwhile, at around 11:10 pm the same night, a blast occurred on platform 2 of the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Railway Station. The object appeared to be a homemade bomb or a similar explosive device. Although a loud explosion was heard, no evidence of a cocktail bomb was found at the scene, and no casualties were reported. The Railway Police are currently handling the matter.

This incident follows a series of similar occurrences in Dhaka, including bomb explosions and bus fires, beginning on the night of November 7. These events coincide with the announcement of the verdict date in a high-profile war crimes case involving former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, with tensions reportedly escalating in the capital and other regions.
