In Jhenaidah, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested BNP leader Robiul Islam Robi, the prime accused in the murder case of Cambodia-based expatriate Mahabub, following a dispute over land. He was apprehended on Sunday (16 November) at midnight from the Adarsha Para area of the town.
Arrested Robiul Islam Robi serves as the organisational secretary of the BNP in Padmakar Union, Jhenaidah Sadar. This was confirmed by Mehedi Imran Siddiqui, Company Commander of the Jhenaidah RAB Camp and Additional Superintendent of Police.
He stated that based on information that the prime accused of the Mahabub murder case was present in the Adarsha Para area, an operation was conducted there, resulting in Robi’s arrest. After questioning, he was handed over to Sadar Police Station on Monday morning.
Notably, last Saturday morning, in Kala village of Sadar Upazila, Mahabub, an expatriate from Cambodia, was stabbed to death by rivals following a dispute over land.
Following the incident, on Sunday night, the deceased’s brother Rubel Hossain filed a murder case at Sadar Police Station, naming BNP leader Robiul Islam Robi and 13 others, along with 10-12 unidentified individuals as accused.
