South Korea’s military has proposed holding military talks with North Korea to ease tensions along the border and prevent possible conflict. News of the proposal was reported from Seoul by the news agency AFP.
The initiative comes after a recent incident involving North Korean soldiers crossing the border.
Kim Hong-chol, South Korea’s Vice Minister for National Defence Policy, said at a press briefing on Monday, “To prevent unexpected clashes and reduce military tensions, our armed forces are formally proposing that the two sides hold an inter-Korean military meeting.”
He further stated that the meeting would also include discussions on clearly defining the Military Demarcation Line (MDL) along the border.
