Child Drowns in Pond in Patuakhali

A 4-year-old child named Abir has drowned in a pond in Galachipa Upazila of Patuakhali. The incident occurred at around 2:00 PM on Wednesday, 19 November, in the village of Athkhali in the Dakua Union of the upazila.

According to family members and local sources, Abir was the only son of Latif Howlader, a farmer. When family members failed to find him, they started searching for him. Later, Abir’s uncle, Anish Howlader, found the child in the nearby pond and immediately rescued him. He rushed Abir to the Galachipa 50-bed Government Hospital.

Dr. Tushar Ahmed, Medical Officer at Galachipa Upazila Health Complex, stated that the child was already dead before being brought to the hospital. “We confirmed his death after examining him,” he said.
