US President Donald Trump is set to meet New York’s newly elected mayor, Joharan Mamdani, on Friday.
On Wednesday (19 November), Trump confirmed the meeting on his social media platform, ‘Truth Social’.
This will be the first face-to-face meeting between the two politicians since Joharan Mamdani was elected mayor earlier this month.
On social media, Trump referred to Mamdani as a ‘communist’, repeating his previous false claims. He wrote, “The meeting will take place at the Oval Office on Friday, 21 November.”
The newly elected mayor’s spokesperson, Dora Pekek, also confirmed the meeting. She stated that, following protocol, the mayor plans to meet President Trump in Washington to discuss public safety, economic security, and the expectations of New Yorkers who voted for him.
