Trump’s 28-Point Peace Plan to Halt Russia-Ukraine War

US President Donald Trump has quietly approved a 28-point peace plan to stop the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The plan could ultimately serve as a landmark step toward ending the war between the two countries.

According to NBC News, citing a senior Trump administration official, the plan was developed over several weeks in consultation with Russia’s ambassador Kirill Dmitriev and Ukrainian officials. Axios reported that the plan was inspired by Trump’s earlier 20-point Gaza peace initiative.

Officials from the US administration have not disclosed specific points of the plan. Three US officials told media that the framework has not yet been formally presented to Ukrainian leaders. On Wednesday, a US military delegation visited Ukraine to discuss military strategy and technology while also supporting efforts to revive a lasting peace process.

Under the proposed plan, Ukraine may have to lease a part of the eastern Donbas region to Russia. While legal ownership would remain with Ukraine, actual control would be in Russia’s hands, and Ukraine would receive a specified payment in return.

Other strict conditions Ukraine would have to accept include:

Reducing the size of its military by half,

Completely banning long-range missiles,

Prohibiting deployment of foreign troops within the country,

Ending US military assistance,

Banning foreign diplomatic aircraft from landing in Ukraine.

Additionally, the plan proposes recognising Russian as an official state language and granting official status to the Russian Orthodox Church in the occupied territories.

The plan also allows Ukraine to continue negotiations with the US and European countries regarding security guarantees to help maintain a potential ceasefire.
