He was produced before Gazipur court on Thursday (20 November). Earlier, on Wednesday night, he was caught at a computer shop in Tetuitla area of Moktarpur Union.

OC of Kaliganj police station, Md. Alauddin, confirmed the arrest. Mahidul Alam is the son of Md. Abul Bashar Khan of Daribaghun village in Ward 9 of Moktarpur Union. He served as a village police officer in that ward.

Additionally, six coloured copies of fake police clearance certificates, three copies of online application forms, and Union Parishad pad books were seized.

Inspector (Investigation) Md. Ashraful Islam of Kaliganj police said Mahidul was caught red-handed while making the fake certificates. In preliminary questioning, he admitted that he had been involved in the fraud for a long time with 2–3 unidentified accomplices.

OC Md. Alauddin added that the fake certificates used forged seals in the names of the OC of Kaliganj police station and the Gazipur Police Superintendent’s office (Intelligence Division). Many people preparing to go abroad were reportedly defrauded over time. Mahidul was sent to court.
