Sheikh Tanvir Bari Hamim, the convenor of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) at Kabi Jasimuddin Hall of Dhaka University, was injured after breaking his leg while rushing down the stairs in panic when an earthquake was felt on campus.
The incident occurred at 10:38 am on Friday on the stairs of one of the university’s residential halls.
Students said that a brief tremor created sudden chaos inside the hall. While hurrying downstairs, Hamim slipped on the stairs and injured his left leg. He was later taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors confirmed that his leg was fractured.
He is currently receiving treatment, and his condition is reported to be stable.
