Keraniganj Model Police have arrested six people in connection with six cattle theft cases, following operations in Gazipur and Dhaka’s Savar-Ashulia police areas.
The arrested individuals are Ershad, also known as Eshadul (42), Lal Mia, also known as Lalon (36), Shimul Khan (30), Md. Raju Ahmed (32), Milon Hossain (48), and Sabuj Mia.
Keraniganj Model Police Station OC Monirul Islam Wablu confirmed the matter in a press release on Friday (21 November).
According to the OC, on the night of 17 November, six cows were stolen from the house of Zenaik Abul Hossain in Sirajnagar Bot Tala area under Tarangor Union, Keraniganj Model Police Station. Abul Hossain filed a case with the police following the theft.
Acting under the instructions of the Dhaka District Police Superintendent, a team led by SI Mizan and SI Saidur Rahman conducted operations in Gazipur and Savar-Ashulia police areas, arresting the suspects and bringing them to the police station.
From the possession of Ershad, also known as Eshadul, a pickup used in the cattle theft was recovered. Police have stated that efforts to recover the stolen cattle and apprehend remaining absconding suspects are ongoing.
SI Mizan added that the arrested suspects have been sent to court with a seven-day remand request.
