Unknown miscreants set fire to the signboard of the Khetupara branch of Grameen Bank in Santhia upazila of Pabna. The incident occurred late on Sunday (23 November), when petrol was poured onto the digital signboard and set alight. Santhia Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC), Anisur Rahman, confirmed the matter.
A video of the incident has already circulated on social media. The footage shows the perpetrators pouring petrol onto the digital signboard installed atop the boundary wall of the bank branch and igniting it within moments.
OC Anisur Rahman stated that they had inspected the scene. The digital signboard, positioned on the boundary wall beside the road in front of the bank, was set on fire. He suggested that someone might have carried out the act to create instability in the government. The incident took place at around 2am. However, those responsible have not yet been identified. The bank has not filed any written complaint so far. Police are investigating the matter.
