The most anticipated clash in the Bangladesh Football League, Abahani vs Mohammadan, delivered pure excitement today. At Comilla’s Shaheed Dhirendranath Stadium, Mohammadan struck first in the 20th minute with Rahim Uddin’s goal. Emmanuel Keke doubled the lead at the 32nd minute following a precise corner from Mozaffor Mozafforov. By halftime, Mohammadan led 2-0, leaving Abahani fans stunned.
The first goal highlighted Mohammadan’s tactical mastery. Mozaffor’s long pass bypassed Abahani’s defence, with Samuel Boateng failing to intercept. Rahim Uddin capitalised on the open goal and neatly slotted the ball, marking a standout moment of the match. This win marks Mohammadan’s first victory of the season after a loss and a draw in their previous two games.
In the second half, Abahani tried to stage a comeback. In the 58th minute, Samuel Boateng headed in from Zahid Hasan’s cross. At 72 minutes, Papon Singh struck a stunning shot from outside the box to further narrow the gap. However, in the 78th minute, a deflected cross from Al-Amin allowed Sheikh Morsalin to restore Mohammadan’s two-goal lead, making it 3-2.
Despite creating several chances in the dying minutes, Abahani could not equalise. The match was defined by the brilliant performances of Keke and Rahim Uddin, demonstrating Mohammadan’s dominance both offensively and defensively.
