182 to Win: Bangladesh Faces Stiff Challenge in Chattogram

Chattogram’s opening T20 match turned into a masterclass of batting from Harry Tector, as Ireland posted 181/4, leaving Bangladesh with a chase of 182. Harry Tector scored 69 off 45 balls*, smashing five sixes and a four, while his brother Tim Tector scored 32 runs from 24 balls.

The powerplay saw Sterling and Harry Tector combine for 48 runs, the middle overs had the Tector brothers adding 24 runs, and in the final phase Campher and Harry Tector delivered a flurry of boundaries. This set a challenging target for Bangladesh to chase on a demanding Chattogram wicket.

Bangladesh’s bowlers struggled throughout. Tanvir Hasan claimed 2 wickets but leaked 41 runs. Shoriful Islam started well but lost control in the middle overs. Nasum and Rishad tried to maintain pressure but were unable to contain the Tector duo. Mustafizur Rahman gave some control back, conceding just 3 runs in the last over of the powerplay.

Ireland Batting Summary

Batsman Runs Balls 4s/6s
Harry Tector 69* 45 1/5
Tim Tector 32 24 2/1
Campher 25 15 2/1
Sterling 48 30 4/2

Ireland’s strategy of steady accumulation in the middle, explosive hitting at the end proved perfect. Chasing 182 in Chattogram is rare in international T20 history, but Bangladesh’s lineup, including Liton, Tanzid, Parvez, and Hriday, keeps fans optimistic about a thrilling finish.
