A five-storey building of Rahman Diagnostic Center in Savar, Dhaka, was engulfed in fire. While the clinic suffered extensive damage, no casualties have been reported so far.
On Thursday (27 November) at around 11:30 pm, the fire started from an underground shop in the building, located in Hemayetpur, Tetuljhora Union, Savar.
Upon receiving the report, two fire service teams rushed to the scene and began firefighting operations. By around 1:00 am, the fire service personnel brought the fire under control and carried out dumping operations.
Tanvir Ahmed, Station Manager of Hemayetpur Tannery Fire Service, said that after receiving the alert at 11:30 pm, their two units quickly reached the scene and controlled the fire. The blaze began on the ground floor, spreading to three shops and the entire building. Furniture and other valuable items in the hospital were destroyed by the fire.
As of Friday morning, the extent of casualties or damage remains unknown. Dumping operations are still ongoing, and heavy smoke is rising. According to the fire service official, the full extent of damage and the cause of the fire will be known once the dumping operations are completed.
