India Reveal Full U-19 Asia Cup Squad: Big Decisions Ahead of Pakistan Clash

India have officially announced their Under-19 squad for the upcoming ACC Under-19 Asia Cup, scheduled to take place in Dubai from 12 December. The announcement has already sparked significant interest across the cricketing world, particularly because selectors have opted for a carefully balanced team comprising both experienced age-group performers and exciting new talents. Ayush Mahatre, a promising young opener, has been named the captain after demonstrating excellent leadership ability and a remarkable run of form in recent domestic tournaments. His deputy, Behan Malhotra, has been chosen for his tactical awareness and steady all-round skills.

One of the key strengths of this team lies in the wicketkeeping department. Avigyan Kundu has been appointed the primary wicketkeeper, a decision based on his consistency behind the stumps and his ability to contribute crucial runs in pressure situations. Harbansh Singh will serve as the reserve wicketkeeper, ensuring the team maintain depth and flexibility throughout the tournament.

Several players in the batting and bowling units have also drawn attention. Khilan Patel, Naman Pushpak and Henil Patel are among the most notable names, each bringing unique qualities that could prove vital to India’s campaign. Khilan’s all-round abilities, Naman’s stability in the top order and Henil’s controlled spin make them important assets.

The selection committee have included 15 cricketers in the main squad, accompanied by four additional players as stand-by options. This approach indicates the selectors’ attempt to prepare for potential last-minute injuries or tactical adjustments, particularly given the fast-paced nature of tournament cricket.

India’s Under-19 campaign will begin on 12 December in Dubai. One of the most anticipated fixtures of the group stage is the high-voltage clash against Pakistan, expected to draw considerable global viewership. India’s final group-stage match will be held at the Sevens Stadium. Both semi-finals are scheduled for 19 December, followed by the final on 21 December.

Pacer Kishan Kumar Singh’s availability will depend on the results of a fitness assessment. If he is cleared, his inclusion is expected to significantly strengthen India’s pace attack. Four players – Rahul Kumar, Hemchudeshan J, B.K. Kishore and Aditya Rawat – have been listed as stand-by cricketers, ready to step in should the need arise.
