Six Members of Robbery Gang Arrested in Rupnagar with Weapons and Private Car: DMP

In Rupnagar, Dhaka, police from Rupnagar Thana have arrested six members of a robbery gang with homemade weapons and a private car while they were preparing for a robbery. The arrests were made by a patrol team on Saturday at 5:15 pm.

The DMP Media and Public Relations Division confirmed the information in a press release on Sunday.

The arrested individuals are Tamim alias Nazmul Islam (20), Md. Rasel Hossain (32), Golam Rabbi (19), Yasin Babu (20), Md. Juel (26) and Md. Rubel Hossain (35).

According to the DMP, during regular patrols in the Berulia embankment area of Rupnagar Thana, police noticed a suspicious private car. Upon stopping and searching the vehicle, they recovered homemade weapons, including a Grand Harvest multifunctional outdoor knife and a wooden-handled knife.

The six occupants were interrogated as their statements appeared incoherent. During questioning, they admitted to planning a robbery.

The police also seized the private car and weapons used in the intended robbery. Cases have been filed against the six individuals at Rupnagar Thana.

Additionally, the DMP reported that Md. Sabbir (18) was shown as arrested under the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance in a separate operation.
